Not morally…
but procedurally, when working with a peer
and got CALLED OUT for it
Enter- a fire hose of 100 thoughts, feelings…
I freaked out (on the inside)- 100 thoughts, feelings
Defensiveness, Blame, Shame, Self-Loathing…
She said, … we were just in the same training and your’re supposed to…
I sensed her frustration
She said, … it really muddied the waters.
I that momnent
It’s true, I didn’t follow the procedure
I MADE THAT MEAN TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT>>>ME
I messed up (and that’s terrible)
I shouldn’t have said that (I can’t trust myself)
I’m not good (I should crawl under a rock)
Yes my brain is dramatic AF and c’mon, so is yours.
BUT I caught myself
I questioned my brain- and truth is
- Messing up; being wrong- normal
2. I didn’t actually fail her here- I was trying something and she didn’t want to do what I suggested- and that’s okay.
3. I believe it might be a good thing- that I “muddied the waters” It could be the exact coaching she needed
4. I’m an intuitive, brilliant, insightful person-who can totally hold space for negative emotion.
Before I had the tools of coaching
Her reaction would have sent me into a PIT OF DOOM and bothered me for weeks, months…
Instead I cried and felt super cring-y for an hour
AND then I got to work and it was DONE
AND I created tons of growth and opportunity to hone my skills and to powerfully hold space for myself and my clients in their discomfort and frustration.
and I keep it movin’ with energy, motivation, inspiration, solutions,
“Catch your brain” so triggers don’t bother you and set you back for days, weeks, months…?

Ask yourself some POWERFUL QUESTIONS
Is this even true about me? why/why not?
When I bring up my thoughts about that- How does it make me feel (name the emotion)?
When I feel that way- what do I tend to do (list the actions, inactions, reactions)?
Do those actions, inactions, and reactions serve me and what I want for myself?
Awareness is the first part…
It will help you catch yourself quicker, course correct, have less set backs and save a ton of time and energy. YAY!!
Start there
…and when in doubt, be kind to yourself
