It’s too much
But then, somehow
you do
You press on, slog through… It’s soul crushing.
Stop crushing your soul- you need that
Efficiency, organization hacks only get you so far- and honestly
If you don’t have the right mindset and energy behind them – they’re worthless.
…Sometimes you even use the organization as a weapon against yourself
or an excuse for you (your brain) to be mean to yourself about the things you aren’t doing.
But you literally can’t right now-
your soul is crushed (or at least partially).
I know- I’m being dramatic-
Stress, burnout…
but SLPs, this is important shit
and it’s NOT OKAY
Stress, overtime, will actually kill a person.
Burnout won’t kill you, but will render you powerless.
Soooooooo
Yes it’s true when you have a working system and it flows- It feels amazing and free
But
Organization and systems won’t get you anywhere if you aren’t physically, mentally, emotionally able to actually do them
Here’s one of the frameworks I use when I work with SLPs 1:1…
We take a 3 prong approach-
First we take a look at the STRESSORS from work and life (yes everything, no topic off limits). Stressors are a part of being human in the world. Everybody has stress. We look at your particular sticking points and how it’s impacting everything. Then we sort out what you want to keep and see if there is anything you want to eliminate and I teach you how to make powerful, confident decisions about that.
Second we breakdown in detail- your individual RESPONSE to the stressors. For each response we pinpoint where you can tweak to reduce the ongoing stress and make things flow much smoother. I hold your hand and we do it together so it’s not this big scary thing. THAT will recover more of your energy and from there, we map out how you want to allocate the energy you’ll recover. So fun!
Third we build in some simple ways to bring yourself back to equilibrium on a daily basis. That part is pretty simple and fun. The thing is- because it’s so easy, most people don’t do it and write it off as not important. So I gently help you remember so eventually, you can do it on your own.
