It’s in the air
That buzz of uncertainty in your body, in your brain?
What’s going to happen?
Today I’m going to teach you a way you can get a sense of certainty in an uncertain world.
Buckle in
First of all- here’s what your brain does on uncertainty.
It spins, it asks the same questions over and over with no answer in sight.
…your brain loves a good chew toy like this.
But it causes massive exhaustion
not to mention increased worry, anxiety, fear
Then you– eat a lot of ice cream, smoke a cigarette, scroll social media, watch movies
…. or whatever your thing is- you probably know that rabbit hole.
(paralysis, lethargy, throw in a little (or a lot of) self- loathing???)
Sooo yeah- that’s what your brain does on uncertainty.
Soooooooo- NOT FUN
We’ve established there’s no upside to the repetitive brain-buzz of uncertainty
BUT
It’s true- There are things that happen in the world- we have no control over
I mean, 2020, we’re really noticing the reality of that now- but it’s all the time
Viral Uncertainty
in our body, mind and community
It spreads rapidly
wash your hands, wear a mask, limit your interaction…
These are all the things we do to stop the spread externally
But how do we stop it in our mind, internally
You anchor into YOU
You make powerful decisions about your identity
Your future-self
Most people identify themselves based on the outside world, their relationships, their roles, career.
I want to you think about who YOU are
If you aren’t sure- don’t say -I neeeeeed to “discover” myself or “find” myself
or “find my purpose”
No
You DECIDE POWERFULLY who you want to be
I am a problem solver, I am creative, I am a healer, I am graceful
How about you? Ask yourself
1. How do I define myself (not attached to people, jobs, or things..)
2. What do I want to be true about me no matter what?
3. How can I be more of who I want to be?
The thing is- you decide that for yourself and live into it
In a world of uncertainty- Be who you decide to be no matter what life brings
When your brain wants to incessantly ask unanswerable questions, anchor into your identity.
